2002 Beringer Johannisberg Riesling
Grapes for the 2002 Beringer Johannisberg Riesling come from vineyards up and down California`s coast. The Pacific influence that presides over these vineyards creates ideal growing conditions for the Riesling grape to develop rich nectar flavors and citrus and orange blossom characteristics.
Winemaking
Similar to its growing conditions, Riesling enjoys cooler temperatures throughout winemaking to retain its delicate floral and white peach aromas and flavors. Immediately following crush, Beringer`s winemakers chilled the must (juice and skins) and continued with a long, slow fermentation to extract the subtle nuances of flavors from the elusive Riesling grape. Just before the wine reached dryness, temperatures were further lowered, enhancing the length and finish and rounding out the wine. The result is a bright, crisp wine popping with fresh peach and jasmine flavors and highlighted with hints of orange blossom and baking spice.
